Hi! I am Sehajpreet Kaur and this is my and my friend Loveleen’s blog. Lately, we are studying at Sheridan College and have been given an assignment for my Business Communication class. We have chosen the subject of “Social Media for Business” for my assignment. But before proceed to the various social media applications in-depth, we will talk about social media as a whole.

A great percentage of population is using social media which can be beneficial for the businesses. You can invest in any of these sites and can reach large number of consumers which is may be difficult otherwise with the little cost. They are not just using it for using the social media, but they are using it for purchasing.

For example, 70% of the customers have used Facebook to make their purchases. More than 90% of the consumers use Pinterest to purchase their products. Business Marketers look for various kinds of social media to promote their product social media and they also use it to target their audience. I found the following information on a website and think it is useful:

Facebook is on the number one position in the list of social media applications for business. Facebook is the most widely used platform with 2.41 billion active users that uses it daily. The reason why it is the topmost used site is that it is used by a large number of people of every age group so any business can find their target market on it. Facebook advertising is a good way to promote the product within and outside the country (Top 10 Social Media Sites for Business, 2019).

Facebook Messenger

Whether Facebook Messenger is a part of Facebook, but you have to download it separately as it has some additional features that Facebook don’t have. It comes on number three on the list of social media for business.

Facebook Messenger allows the user to send direct messages to others and this gives additional benefit to businesses to extends their business pages. As it is a part of the Facebook, it has the same access to the Facebook’s page and users, which is a great advantage for you!

 Facebook’s advertising campaigns are specifically developed for Facebook Messenger. When an individual click on your ad he/she will be prompted to use Facebook Messenger with your page and when the person does so, your page can follow up with them in messages. Apart from this, you can also set an automated message for your business page and when will message you on your page, Facebook Messenger can send an automatic message back to them, which you have created.

Instagram

Instagram is third on the list of social media for business. It is owned by the same person who owns Facebook. It has 5 million daily active users. I found this information useful from a website:

Pinterest is useful for the businesses that falls in creative industry and is much likely to be used by women. It has 291 million daily active users out of which 81% are women (Top 10 Social Media Sites for Business, 2019).

The top searches on the Pinterest are about food recipes, lifestyle articles, wedding inspiration and outfit ideas (Top 10 Social Media Sites for Business, 2019).
